New York with Lairds

Aaron's parents and sister visited New York in April for a BYUI theater trip. We decided it would be fun to meet up with them for the weekend. We drove up to DC on Friday night and stayed with Eric and Darien and then all 5 of us headed up to New York on Saturday morning. We made it to NY around noon and met up with John, Linda, and Nicole right away. After their hotel, our first stop was lunch at Pret a Manger and then we headed over the fifth avenue to hang out. We were going to go to the Top of the Rock but bought tickets for later that evening so we could get a twilight view of the city (Yes I had just done that 4 weeks earlier). We went shopping at Anthro, Tiffany's, and more. We also had to stop at Magnolia Bakery and get some bread pudding, which we happily enjoyed in Central Park. After going to the Top of the Rock we picked up some pizza and hung out in our hotel room until it was time for bed.

Sunday we woke up early and got breakfast at Jamba Juice and then took the subway over to Lincoln Square for church at the Manhattan Temple. After sacrament meeting, we found an authentic (according to Nicole) Japanese place for some ramen. We picked up our food to go and then found a spot in Central Park to eat. I have to say I was a little skeptical but it was SO GOOD. Following our lunch, dessert was up next with an obligatory stop at Pinkberry. We had a couple of hours to kill before the Lairds had to head to the airport and right next to pinkberry was a nail salon. So we all got manicures and pedicures - men included. It was a nice pampering for their feet after walking the streets of NYC all week.

After we sent off the Lairds, Aaron and I were eager to head to the NYC Car Show, where the new Hyundai Santa Fe had been revealed while Eric and Darien went to visit a friend. We learned here that this new model wouldn't be available until the late fall. Bummer. We saw some other fancy cars and then met back up for dinner at Shake Shack before getting on the road. I think we made it back to Richmond around 2am. Ridiculous but a fun whirlwind trip.
